That's all for 2020

A big thank-you to Pro-Landscaper for publishing an interview with Stuart and Andrew on the occasion of GREENinc’s 25th birthday in their November issue

This month we profiled four more of the 25 notable GREENinc projects that we will post on social media to mark this milestone. First up was the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) in Illovo, Johannesburg. We worked on the first phase of this now much-respected academic institution 20 years ago. Next came the African “kabinetgärten” at the 2017 international garden exhibition (IGA) in Berlin, Germany. This permanent display garden was one of nine designed by designers from around the world and constructed in hedged display “cabinets”. Then we posted a profile on the Sharpeville Memorial, completed in 2011. The last project to be featured this month was the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, completed in Johannesburg in 2016. The Sharpeville Memorial and Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital both received Awards of Excellence from the Institute for Landscape Architecture in South Africa (ILASA). Have a look at the posts on InstagramLinkedIn or Facebook if you missed them. This random slice of our work – a business school campus, a small display garden, a memorial to a landmark historical event and a hospital landscape - highlights its extremely diverse nature. Yet there is some overlap in function between these landscapes that variously support learning, remembrance and healing.

This will be our final newsletter blog of the year, as our offices will be closed for our annual break over the new year. 2020 has been a difficult and painful year for most. We hope that you will have some time to rest and recuperate with your loved ones next month and that 2021 will be kinder to all of us. We also look forward to opportunities to improve the lot of our communities and environment.

‘til next year.
