Houghton Revisited

The whole of the GREENinc team went on an office excursion to The Houghton Hotel last week. This project was completed more than a year ago, and I wanted to visit it after seeing the photos below, which Andrew took for a print ad. As you can see, the space is looking spectacular. Another Johannesburg project which is starting to take shape is Ellipse Waterfall, where the planting has started to go in. Since the last newsletter, Ruth has posted some more of the 25 projects on our 25th birthday. The first was Liliesleaf Farm in Rivonia. Our work at this important heritage site earned an ILASA Award of Excellence in 2009. Next was Marula Game Ranch in Namibia, which also won an ILASA award, the President’s Award, in 2017. Jumping back in time again we had the University of Johannesburg Arts Centre, which featured beautiful concrete relief work by Marco Cianfanelli in its water feature. If you have been following us on social media, you will also have seen that four of our projects have been featured on a new website called landscape architecture_built. If not, check it out! We also posted some graphics illustrating principles for the rehabilitation and appropriate development along a watercourse.

I hope you enjoyed this edition, stay safe. ‘Til next time.
