From Germany ...
GREENinc’s African Cabinet Garden has been featured in a new collection called Contemporary Landscape Architecture – Masterpieces Around the World published by Braun.
The GREENinc project featured was built for the 2017 International Garden Festival in Berlin - it’s our northernmost project to date! 9 landscape designers from across the world were invited to design a representative display garden each. The resulting “Gardens of the World” remain as attractions at Kienbergpark. The garden display “cabinets” are enclosed by hedges which largely conceal the landscapes within, creating a sense of curiosity. A glimpse of the GREENinc garden can be seen over the tops of the hedges, tempting one to come inside and see the full picture. The hedges enclose a space that feels protected and comfortable to be in. The earliest gardens in the world were enclosed with hedges, just like this one, to keep out intruders, human and animal, provide privacy and protect delicate plants from winds and frost. They were also display cabinets, and treasure chests too!
