Stuart has spent his career making places for people, be they university students, hospital patients, members of the public or homeowners. Some key projects include the Northern Cape Legislature, campus upgrades at the University of Johannesburg, the Gordon Institute of Business Science campus, a lecture hall complex for the University of Pretoria, hospitals in Vryburg, Ndantsane and Kimberley, public parks in Soweto and Lenasia and the home of Kaizer Chiefs FC.
Stuart has worked to raise the profile of the profession of landscape architecture through his involvement with the Institute for Landscape Architecture in South Africa (ILASA), of which body he is past President. During his tenure as president he championed ILASA’s bid to host the 2012 International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) World Congress and undertook a roadshow to most of the regional offices of the Department of Public Works to tell employees about the profession of landscape architecture.
Stuart has appeared on “Top Billing” on the subject of green roofs and has acted as external examiner for the landscape architecture masters students at the University of Cape Town.
He is based in Durban, KZN.
